Guitar Hero Controller -- Buttons Sticking
« on: January 16, 2008, 06:53:21 AM »
Anyone know of any good home remedies for fixing the fret buttons on a guitar hero controller?
"You mind if I climb up there?"
"No."
"No, you don't mind?"
"Yes I mind. The answer is no."
"Why?"
"Because I don't want you to fall and then I'm in trouble."
"What if I say you told me not to, and I did it anyway?"
"Hurry up."

If it's sticking due to residue / dirt / or spilled drinks that dried on it try rubbing alchol. It's good at breaking it all down, and dries much quicker then water incase it gets too far under the buttons.

or you could get rubbing alcohol and rub around the edges of the button. after which, press the buttons down like your playing and see if it helps. the rubbing alcohol should break down dirt and sweet things that might cause the button to stick.

if you really want to, you could take the entire controller apart by removing the screws. (taking the care to examine everything how everything works like the whammy bar and the buttons them self. nothing worse than fixing the problem that you dove in to fix and finding out you made a bigger one.) take the keys out and clean them with rubbing alcohol so that they can move freely.

you could but it leaves a nasty residue. rubbing alcohol evaporates.

Never used it before so you should just go with what palmmann said.

And i'm also interested in hearing how well the "project" went.

Well, The rubbing alcohol seems to be working.  I think, I might need to tear it apart and see if there is a spring or piece which is catching somewhere.
