14" LCD "out of range"
« on: July 02, 2008, 11:59:25 PM »
I picked up a 14" LCD for free today, it didn't come with a power cored. So I took a 12V DC that had 1AMP because I guessed it would be enough and had more then the rest I had. Then I took another that had a plug that fit, cut um up and soldered it. Plugged it in and the screen turned on fine. Then i moved it over to a computer and plugged it in via VGA cored and the monitor just came up with a message saying "out of range"

Any idea what this would mean?

With a little more searching the web and trying it myself, "out of range" means the resolution is too high for the monitor to support.

Try hooking up another monitor and setting it to the lowest resolution and hook the 14'' back up and see if it works.

I used to do it a lot going from by 21" CRT to anything else beause the res on the 21" CRT was so high, but instead of an out of range error normally the screen would just stay black for me.
