FX62 or E6300?

I'm trying to find out which system would be faster for my brother.
 
 I have the following laying around to give him:
 
 4GB DDR2-800
 8600GTS
 250GB SATA II WD
 X-Fi Music
 and a 500W Antec Trio.
 
 now for the stuff that is interchangeable keep in mind I have all parts on hand:
 
 Intel:
 GA-965P-DS3
 Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
 
 or
 
 AMD:
 ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe
 AMD Athlon 64 FX 62
 
 
 he does mild gaming/photoshop work.
