I've always had an interest in this idea, partially because its basically half the philosophy of The Matrix Trilogy.

any thoughts?
personally I find Mrs. Putnam's theory disturbingly insufficient.
Also, if the brain in a vat hypothesis is correct, would the brains be hooked up to a common machine, or is each in it's own construct, and is there any way to prove it?
