The idea of making a website scared me at first. I know how to use a computer to get on the internet, to type papers and do other minor tasks but I had never attempted to create a webpage. I had no idea how to do it and I was anticipating long hours sitting at the computer trying to figure out how to create links and how to design my page. In brief, I was not looking forward to star working on the project!Since I didn?t have any choice, I sat down at the computer and started researching the Internet to find material for the content of my webpage (a brief overview of desegregation in American public schools). I found several very interesting websites on the topic and I learnt a lot about the Brown versus Board of Education case and all the events that followed it. Little by little, it started to look like creating that website might not be too bad. Indeed, once I actually got to the making of the website with the Netscape software, I really started to like the project. It took time and efforts but it wasn?t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The software was very user friendly and after a while I really enjoyed creating links, and designing the page. I had fun picking which picture to use and where to put it. It was also very interesting to read all those websites about the topic to pick which ones I wanted to use. By working on this project, I added a new valuable item on my list of computer skills. I am very glad I learned how to make WebPages because in a society where computers have more and more importance, I will surely need in my professional career to make websites (for my classroom or as a professional musician). In conclusion, it was a fun way to learn a new valuable skill and also information on a fascinating topic.
