Honestly, The difference between a 60$ card and a 250$ card you are highly unlikey to hear at all. A investment in really good speakers would be better. The " Audigy 2 ZS" Is a good choice, and so is the Audigy 4 both by creative, sound blaster XFI I have heard is also good.

The X-Fi would be the best choice.  You can get the XtremeMusic for around $100, Platinum for around $170, Fatal1ty FPS for around $200 ($80 off currently), or Elite Pro.

I would seriously look at the the Fatal1ty FPS.  The normal cost is $280, however newegg has a special where you can save $80 instantly.
